Adding Other Side Lawyer Information to Your File (AB)
Adding the other side's lawyer information to your file takes just a few clicks. Whether you are searching your own database, the Law Society of Alberta, or adding a manual entry, here is how to get it done.
Accessing the Lawyer List
From the Details screen, look at the left-hand navigation panel. Here you will see:
- In a Purchase File, a Seller’s Lawyer heading.
- In a Sale File, a Buyer’s Lawyer heading.
Clicking on the appropriate heading will open the lawyer list window. Use the Search bar at the top of the screen to find a solicitor already in the system. You can filter your results using two options:
- System: A comprehensive list of lawyers provided by LDD.
- User: Your firm’s specific lawyer listing.
Tip: The search functionality displays both lists in one window but organizes them clearly once your results appear.
Once you find the correct lawyer, select their name to go to the Solicitor Information screen. Here, you can add or modify details. If you make changes, be sure to click Update List in the top right-hand corner of the panel.
Should you not find the lawyer you are looking for, you will be provided with an option to search the Law Society of Alberta or add your own entry.

Searching the Law Society of Alberta (LSA)
If your initial search doesn't turn up the person you're looking for, you can search the LSA database directly within Realti.
- Click the Law Society of Alberta link (visible after an initial search).
- Enter the lawyer’s details (Last Name, First Name, Firm, or City).
- Click Search.
- In the results, click the lawyer’s name to expand their details.
- If it is the correct match, click Select Lawyer.
Realti will automatically map the LSA information into the corresponding fields. You can then add specifics like the Attention line, Email, or Contact Person (Assistant) name. Click Update List to save, then OK to pull them into your transaction.
Adding a Manual Entry
If the lawyer you are looking for isn't in your database or the LSA registry, you can add them manually.
- Click the add your own link (visible after an initial search).
- A blank entry screen will appear.
- Enter the Solicitor's details, starting with the Solicitor Name (mandatory).
Recommended: While these fields are not mandatory, filling in the address, email, and trust account details now will save you time later in the transaction.
- Click Update List to save the profile, then OK to link them to your file.
