Adding Other Side Lawyer Information to Your File (AB)
On the Basic screen, navigate to the Transferor Legal Representation section (or Transferee Legal Representation in a Sale File) on the Basic Information tab. Clicking the ellipsis button next to the Lawyer field, will open the firm’s list of lawyers as well as the Law Society Search function. You can either search for a Solicitor in your firm’s database or for a Solicitor on the Law Society of Alberta site.
To maintain or update your firm’s Other Side’s Lawyer database, you can import directly from the Law Society of Alberta. Click the ellipsis button beside the Other Side’s Lawyer field.
A popup window will appear with a few options. Enter the first and last name. You can choose to include the firm name or change the dropdown to by City/Town to include the city in your search. Click Search after you have entered your search criteria.
After the search, click on the lawyer’s name. The details for the selected lawyer will appear beneath the search results in a green outline. To confirm the lawyer, click the Select Lawyer button.
Once you have selected the lawyer, the lawyer information from the Law Society will be matched to the corresponding fields in RealtiWeb. You may complete and include any additional information in the available fields for the lawyer such as the Attention line, Salutation, Email, Trust Account Details, and the Contact Person (Assistant) for that lawyer. Then, click on the Update List button to save the entry, and click OK to choose the entry for your transaction.
