The Realti PCLaw integration allows you to transfer information from PCLaw to create new Realti files and to export accounting information from Realti to PCLaw.
One time: Setup your new Realti layout
Each export:
- Send the information from PCLaw to a spreadsheet
- Open the spreadsheet file and copy the information to a clipboard
- Import the copied information into Realti
One Time: Setup your New Realti Layout in PCLaw
In PCLaw, you will need to create a new Realti layout as a one time process. Afterwards, you’ll be able to use it for all of your future information exports.
- To create the new layout, select File, then Matter, then Export.
- On the Export Matters screen, click the Add button.
On the Export Matters - Add Layout Information screen
- Name the Layout, for example: Realti
- Enter the description of the Layout file (i.e. Export for Real Estate files from PCLaw to Realti)
- Choose CSV as the initial File Format
- Browse to choose a path where the export file will be sent, including a name for the file that Realti will import. This could be the file path used for exporting from Realti to PCLaw. The default for this is c:\Realti .
On the Main tab of the layout, check off the Matter, Resp. Lawyer, and Other Staff fields. These PCLaw fields will import into the following Realti fields:
In PCLaw | In Realti |
Matter
| File Number
|
Resp. Lawyer
| Lawyer (/Notary in BC)
|
Other Staff
| Conveyancer/Paralegal/Firm Contact.
|
Note: that the Other Staff field in PCLaw must be set up as a user under Options/Administrator/Security if you wish to use this field.
On the Address tab, check off the boxes for the following information fields under the Billing section, then click OK; this creates and saves the Realti layout:
- First Name, Middle, and Last/Firm Name
- Bus, Home, Cell, and Fax
- Email 1 and Email 2
The following PCLaw fields will import into the corresponding Realti fields:
PCLaw field
| Realti fields
|
Matter
| File Number
|
First Name | First Name |
Middle | Middle Name |
Last/Firm Name | Last Name or Company Name |
Business Number | Business Number |
Home Number | Home Number |
Cell Number | Cell Number |

Each Export from PCLaw
- To export the real estate files from this layout screen to the path and file name required, click the Export button. If you have exported a file previously, you will get a message asking you if you want to overwrite the file. If you have already imported the previous export, you can continue with overwriting the file when prompted.
- The Select Matters screen allows you to select matters according to the Type of Law and Opening Date criteria. You may want to pick Only Real Estate Files (based on the Type of Law the files have been opened in in PCLaw) and/or only a range of files based on their file open dates to be included in the Export File. Once you select OK you will get a message that the export is complete.
- The next step is to load the export file that you exported from PCLaw. Open Microsoft Excel, find the file you exported from PCLaw, and bring it up into Microsoft Excel (this will be the path and file name specified in the output File Information on the Export Matters screen).
- Highlight the data in the sheet that you want to copy over.
- Login to Realti and click on the + File button on the main screen. Select PCLaw Import.
- The screen displayed is for you to paste your spreadseet contents into Realti. Paste the spreadsheet you copied from Microsoft Excel into the empty text box.
- Click the Load And Preview button. The information is shown in a table underneath under the appropriate headings.
Click the Create Files button for the appropriate file type you wish to create (P - Purchase, S - Sale, M - Mortgage). All files will be created in Realti. If a file with the same file number exists, you will receive an error message advising you of the duplicated file number. You will be required to change the file number prior to any files being created. Make the change in the spreadsheet and PCLaw prior to performing the Load And Preview again.
Note: In your PCLaw data, the lawyer initials should match a lawyer in your Realti database and the staff name should match a name in your Realti contact database.
If the lawyer initials don’t match a firm lawyer in Realti, no name or initials are brought into Realti. If the staff name doesn’t exist in Realti, the staff name will be brought in but not associated with any previously existing Realti information.
If you wish to make use of the lawyer and staff import, make sure to add the relevant lawyers and staff into Realti so that it matches your PCLaw information.- In your main file list, these newly created files will be available under the Recent files at the top of the files list.
