Modifying Clauses in WillPowerWeb

Being able to modify and move clauses around within WillPowerWeb is critical for being able to create Wills & other documents efficiently and without error. This article covers the following topics related to clause editing:

  1. Changing Order of Clauses

  2. Saving a Clause to Your Library

  3. Changing the Numbering Level of Clauses

  4. Showing the Reciprocal Will & Other Will Document Options

Note: To access a full list of the standard clauses included in WillPowerWeb, check out the Clause Library here.

Changing the Order of Clauses

You can change the order of clauses by moving them up, down, or inserting another clause. To change the order of a clause, navigate to the clause, and right-click on it. From the drop-down menu, select the desired ordering option, for example, Move clause up

Saving a Clause to Your Library

If you want to save and re-use a custom clause to your Clause library, simply navigate to the Clause, and right-click it. Select Save this clause to library

Changing the Numbering Level of Clauses

On the Wills Screen, you can use the numbering function to change or remove the numbering level of clauses. To change or remove the numbering level of clauses, click the number level (in the Level column) you want at the left-hand side of the clause.

You can number clauses numerically, alphabetically, or both, and you can use a combination of brackets or Roman numerals. To change the Clause Numbering style and format, you’ll need to update the Will Document template. To do so, perform the following actions:

  • In the top navigation bar, hover over TOOLS and select Document Templates (general).

  • Select the Letter/Will Template.

  • On the template screen, scroll down to the Clause Numbering for Will - Style and Format section.

  • After modifying the clause numbering settings, scroll up to the top of the screen and press Save

Showing the Reciprocal Will & Other Will Document Options

On the Will Screen, there are several options available at the top of the screen to help you prepare the Will document:
  1. Show Clause Names → Selecting this checkbox enables you to see the name of the clause in the second column.
  2. Show Reciprocal Will → You can use this function to display the clauses of the spouse’s will.
  3. Draft → You can indicate that the Will document is a draft by checking off this box. A Draft watermark will appear on the Will document once it is generated.
  4. Number Pages less 1 in Will → This function provides an indication of the number of pages in the Will less 1, and the value inputted appears in the will document in the “...will written upon this and the # preceding pages” clause on the final page of the will. To add the correct number of preceding pages, after you have completed the will, create the document, click Print Preview and scroll to the end of the page, and note the number of pages. On the Will tab, in the Number Pages less 1 in Will field, subtract one from the number of pages and type that number into the Number Pages less 1 in Will field. The system adds it to the appropriate clause on the final page of the will.
